The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) has issued a warning to residents about a phishing scam involving text messages that falsely claim recipients owe toll fines. These messages are fraudulent and should be disregarded.

Idaho does not have toll roads, and the ITD does not issue toll fines. Recipients of such messages are advised not to click on any links or provide personal information. If possible, individuals should report these messages to their mobile carriers.

Scammers often employ official-sounding language and urgent threats to deceive people into clicking on harmful links. The ITD emphasizes the importance of remaining vigilant and notes:

- Idaho has no toll roads.

- ITD will never send text messages demanding payment.

- ITD will only send texts if you have opted into e-notifications.

For official updates and services related to transportation, residents are encouraged to visit itd.idaho.gov.
