The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and Wadsworth Brothers Construction are set to begin reconstruction work on Interstate 15 at Inkom. The project involves replacing I-15 bridges in three key locations: over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and Old Highway 91, over Rapid Creek Road (Main Street), and reconstructing the West Interchange.

According to ITD, combining these projects will streamline the construction process, reducing the timeline from an estimated three years to approximately two years. This approach aims to minimize disruption for both the local community and travelers while efficiently utilizing construction funds.

Starting Monday, weather permitting, Old Highway 91 will be closed under I-15 to facilitate utility relocation by Idaho Power. Local access will remain available, but other drivers will need to follow a detour along Rapid Creek Road (Main Street). This detour is expected to last until mid-June.

During this period, traffic on I-15 will be reduced to one lane in each direction from early March through late October.
