The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) will host a community open house on February 18 to present updated design plans for the replacement of the Dry Creek Bridge on U.S. Highway 30. The event will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Murtaugh High School Cafeteria, located at 500 Boyd St. W., Murtaugh, ID 83344.

For those unable to attend in person, an online option is available from February 18 to February 24, 2025, through ITD's website.

Brent Brumfield, ITD project manager, stated, “The project team has been working hard since October to design the new bridge.” He added that the new bridge would be durable and incorporate feedback received last year.

The existing structure, built in 1934, is a two-lane concrete arch bridge measuring 60 feet long and 26 feet wide. It crosses Dry Creek just north of Murtaugh Lake and is among several open-spandrel arch bridges in Idaho.

Plans for the new bridge include a pre-stressed concrete girder bridge spanning 111 feet. The highway will be repaved where it connects with the bridge, guardrails will be updated, and the structure will be built at a higher elevation to enhance sight distance for drivers.

Further information and participation details for the online open house can be found on ITD's project page.
