The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) has initiated an online meeting today regarding State Highway 69, starting from Orchard Avenue in Kuna to Overland Road in Meridian. The meeting allows the public to review the proposed vision for the corridor as traffic is anticipated to increase by 55% in the next 25 years. The community is invited to contribute their input and learn about upcoming steps for the SH-69 project.
The vision for SH-69 proposes to widen the highway to seven lanes between Overland and Kuna roads and to five lanes between Kuna Road and Orchard Avenue. There are plans to install a new continuous raised median, allowing access at mile and half-mile intersections, while all other access points will be restricted to right-in and right-out only. Additionally, a 10-foot multi-use pathway will be added on both sides of the highway.
“The proposed vision of the corridor will accommodate motorized and non-motorized users as growth along the corridor is projected to increase 55% over the next 25 years. We look forward to gathering input from the community, as their feedback is crucial to moving the study forward,” said Project Manager Mark Wasdahl.
The online meeting spans from Monday, April 7, to Monday, April 21. Comments can be submitted via the online meeting platform at https://itdprojects.idaho.gov/pages/id69corridor.
