Construction on the new segment of U.S. Highway 95 between Moscow and Thorn Creek Road is set to resume this week. Drivers will encounter one lane in each direction with a speed limit reduced to 45 miles per hour in work zones, primarily near Reisenhauer Hill. The construction of five miles on the north end is expected to accommodate traffic by summer.

Last year, nearly five out of six miles were constructed. The current focus is on paving the new alignment, building two bridges over Thorn Creek, and connecting the new roadway to the existing US-95. Construction on the Thorn Creek bridges will continue into fall.

During summer, the existing US-95 at Reisenauer Hill will temporarily close as traffic shifts to the new alignment. At that point, Latah County will take ownership of the old route and plans to repave and reopen it using funds from the Thorn Creek project.

District Engineer Doral Hoff stated, “We have been running on all cylinders to deliver this vital safety project for our region.” He added that M.A. DeAtley Construction, Inc., along with their teams, are eager "to transform US-95 to four lanes so motorists can experience increased capacity for mobility and improved geometry for safety." Hoff expressed appreciation for public patience during construction.

This project receives funding from Idaho Governor Brad Little’s Leading Idaho transportation initiative. This funding allows ITD to strategically advance large projects aimed at enhancing safety, improving mobility, strengthening Idaho’s economy, and positively impacting communities statewide.
