Chronic wasting disease is in Idaho

Chronic wasting disease is in Idaho, and to increase monitoring efforts for this contagious, incurable, and fatal neurological disease that affects deer, elk, and moose, we are collecting samples from harvested animals. There is no live test to sample for CWD. Here is a map of our sample focus areas: https://idfg.idaho.gov/Z4y

Hunting in Units 14 and 15: If you're hunting in Units 14 and 15, you are required to have your harvested animal tested for CWD. Here is what you need to know:

All Other Units: We do not recommend all hunters who harvest a deer, elk or moose in Idaho have it tested for CWD, but you can request a kit or stop by an Idaho Fish and Game regional office. Test results take about 6 weeks.
