This lunch and learn, Christy Suciu will discuss the importance of Design Thinking in today’s business environment. She will give an overview of tools that leaders can use to apply a human-centered, iterative process to solve problems. This means that you can unlock the creative potential of your organization, no matter the industry. It’s your job to set the conditions for your organization to generate, embrace, and execute on new ideas. It’s a competitive advantage that will keep you ahead in the marketplace. The global world of business has never been more volatile or unpredictable. In order to survive in today’s complex world, organizations need to generate, embrace, and execute new ideas. Design Thinking is about teaching individuals how to lead for creativity and innovation in the workplace.

Christy Suciu graduated with a bachelor of science from the University of Arizona in business and public administration and completed her graduate work at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. She is a lecturer in the Management Department in the College of Business and Economics at Boise

State University. Her teaching and research specialties include design thinking, innovation, and strategy. She recently co-authored one of the first textbooks to bring these business disciplines together in one publication: “Design Thinking and Strategy” (Suciu, Kaupins, 2018). She is well known for helping to pioneer the use of Design Thinking in business curriculum with her paper, “The Intersection of Design and Business Schools: The Need for Design Thinking,” which was published in the Academy of Management Learning and Education in 2014. Suciu’s work has been presented at conferences around the world – including Hong Kong, Istanbul, Helsinki and Cape Town.

Suciu believes that innovation begins with collaboration - she has worked on design thinking projects and consulting with companies including Biomark, Blue Cross of Idaho, PakSense, HP, Wells Fargo, Zamzows, American Pharma, and Sprint.
