Marcos Gallegos of Pueblo, Colorado, and Morgan Galloway of Pocatello, Idaho, were sentenced to federal prison for possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute, U.S. Attorney Bart M. Davis announced on Mar. 26. U.S. District Judge David C. Nye sentenced Gallegos to 188 months and Galloway to 60 months in federal prison.

The sentencing follows an investigation that began after the Pocatello Police Department received a tip that both individuals were selling drugs from their residence. On August 22, 2024, probation and parole officers from the Idaho Department of Correction searched the apartment where Gallegos and Galloway lived and found over 122 grams of fentanyl as well as a firearm. A subsequent search warrant led police to a storage unit rented by the two defendants where $28,000 in drug proceeds was seized.

Judge Nye ordered Gallegos’ sentence be served consecutively to his existing sentences related to two Bannock County drug cases and imposed five years of supervised release following his term in prison. Galloway will serve four years of supervised release after her sentence ends.

Both defendants pleaded guilty on December 11, 2025. Davis said he commended “the work of the Idaho Department of Corrections Probation and Parole, Pocatello Police Department, and Federal Bureau of Investigation which led to the charges.” Assistant U.S. Attorney Blythe McLane prosecuted the case.

The Pocatello Police Department is part of the BADGES HIDTA Task Force—a program sponsored by the Office of National Drug Control Policy that supports multi-agency drug enforcement efforts involving local law enforcement agencies such as Bannock County Sheriff’s Office and Chubbuck Police Department.
