Sydney Groves was named Big Sky Player of the Week after leading Idaho State’s offense during the conference regular season championship series at Montana, according to an April 27 announcement. Groves contributed in all three games, driving in runs and helping secure the Bengals’ title.

Groves posted a .364 batting average and a .909 slugging percentage over the three-game series. She went 4-for-11 at the plate, hitting two home runs and collecting eight runs batted in. Her performance included home runs in both Game Two and Game Three.

In Sunday’s decisive game, Groves hit a three-run home run on the first pitch she saw in the seventh inning, putting Idaho State ahead 8-2. This play helped seal the victory for Idaho State and clinch their regular season championship.

The Bengals will return home next week to host the 2026 Big Sky Conference Softball Championships. The tournament is set to begin Monday morning at Miller Ranch in Pocatello, with games continuing throughout the week as teams compete for this year’s tournament title.
