NICI’s Greene recognized for 35 years of service
By Warden Aaron Krieger, North Idaho Correctional Institution
It’s not very often in a warden’s career you get to hand out a 35-year longevity award. On Oct. 5, I had the honor of doing so as we recognized Patti Greene for her 35 years of service at North Idaho Correctional Institution.
Patti started her career as a correctional officer in 1979. She recalled the facility had just two dorms, one for men and one for women, and just two officers providing security. The officers did not wear uniforms, nor were they equipped with radios. She said on visiting days, visitors often thought she was a resident.
Patti says the facility did not have a fence until one was installed to keep out cows
Patti had a break from NICI and came back to us in the 1980s as an instructor. She has been involved in education ever since. Patti especially enjoys teaching the FATHERS parenting class.
NICI Deputy Warden Teresa Hill said during Patti’s 35-year career she has consistently shown up for work with a smile and a positive attitude.
We honor Patti as she gears up for retirement in December.
