Senator Mike Crapo announced on May 14 several updates to the staff of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, which he chairs.
The announcement introduces three new members joining the committee. Sam Llewellyn has been named Professional Staff Member. Llewellyn previously worked in Senator Tim Scott’s office as deputy legislative assistant, focusing on issues before the Finance and Judiciary Committees, and also served as a legislative correspondent for Congressman Jake LaTurner. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Intelligence and Security Studies from The Citadel.
Sarah Meier joins as Tax Counsel after serving as counsel and parliamentarian for the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce under Chairman Brett Guthrie. Her previous roles include working with Congresswoman Liz Cheney, Congressman Adrian Smith, Senator Mike Enzi, and serving as counsel to the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives. Meier earned her law degree from the University of Nebraska College of Law and practiced business, tax, and government law in Lincoln after receiving her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming.
Mike Weiss will serve as Senior Health Policy Advisor following his tenure as health policy director for Senator Todd Young’s office where he focused on health issues within committee jurisdiction. Weiss also worked with Senators Joni Ernst, Pat Toomey, and Ron Johnson in various policy roles and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.
Crapo serves as chair of the Senate Committee on Finance according to the official website. He has advocated for Idahoans on topics such as responsible forest management and natural resource protection; grew up in Idaho Falls; raised five children with his wife Susan; served three terms representing Idaho’s Second Congressional District in the U.S. House; and earned degrees from Brigham Young University (bachelor’s) and Harvard Law School (Juris Doctor), according to the official website.
