WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Jim Risch (R-Idaho), former chairman of the Senate Small Business Committee, Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Joni Ernst, Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Chairman of the Senate Small Business Committee and several of their Senate colleagues introduced a resolution declaring April 30 to May 6   National Small Business Week.

“Idaho’s small businesses provide immeasurable value to the Gem State by creating jobs, providing goods and services, fueling our economy, and being part of each of our communities’ cultural fabrics. This Small Business Week, I hope you’ll join me in supporting these businesses and the people who keep them running each and every day,”  said Risch.

“More than 99 percent of Idaho’s businesses are small businesses,”  said Crapo.  “This resolution honors these companies and entrepreneurs that employ over 347,000 Idahoans and support our local economy.”

Risch has long been an advocate for Idaho’s small businesses. In 2020, Senator Risch partnered with the Idaho Department of Commerce to establish the now annual Support Local Gems campaign, which encourages Idahoans to support the small businesses that make Idaho thrive.
