Nampa Community Reentry Center Sgt. Erein Saldana and Ofc. Patty Vega have been awarded the Idaho Department of Correction’s Medal of Honor for responding to a medical emergency during their shift.  

They both preformed lifesaving measures on a resident who later passed away due to cardiac arrest.

IDOC’s Medal of Honor is awarded to correctional professionals who display exceptional bravery or heroism beyond the expectation of the normal demands of correctional service and great courage in the face of immediate danger.

Porterville Road Bridge over I-15 closed after vehicle strikes girder

The Porterville Road Bridge over Interstate 15, located north of Blackfoot, is closed after a backhoe being transported by a semi-truck struck the bridge from below on Tuesday evening.
