The Idaho Vandals men’s basketball team announced on Apr. 28 the addition of Hudson Ward, a forward from Leduc, Alberta, as their fifth offseason recruit.
Ward’s recruitment is notable for his combination of size, skill, and experience at both the prep and collegiate levels. Head coach Alex Pribble said, “We often look for versatility in the recruiting process, and Hudson has a rare combination of size, skill, and athleticism. He can guard multiple positions, create a ton of different advantages on the court, and he loves the game. He had a dominant prep career in Canada, and has collegiate experience at the highest level. We believe strongly that his best basketball is ahead of him, and we can’t wait to get him out to Moscow and get to work!”
Ward played for Western Michigan during the 2025-26 season where he started six games out of thirteen appearances. He averaged 4.5 points per game with a shooting percentage of 46.3% and collected an average of 3.4 rebounds per contest. His season-high performance was against Buffalo in December when he scored 13 points.
Before joining Western Michigan, Ward spent his freshman year at Penn State University where he appeared in eight games including key conference matchups against Ohio State and UCLA.
In high school at Leduc Composite High School and Western Canada Prep Academy, Ward was recognized as a three-star prospect averaging over 26 points per game along with nearly ten rebounds over two seasons. His achievements include three triple-doubles with fifty or more points each as well as selection to the All-Canadian Games roster in 2024.
Ward joins fellow Canadian TJ Wal among this year’s new recruits for Idaho alongside Kase Wynott—2024 Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year—and Diego Trejo-Delgado—a first-team All-GNAC honoree—as part of Coach Pribble’s latest additions.
