Drivers in Kootenai County will encounter nighttime lane closures, detours, and shifting traffic patterns throughout August as the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) undertakes a series of maintenance and pavement preservation projects on I-90, US-95, and State Highway 53.

Work is scheduled to occur overnight, generally between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., in an effort to reduce daytime traffic disruptions. Crews will rotate among various locations to complete tasks such as resurfacing, sealing cracks, restriping, and other surface repairs.

“We’re taking advantage of the cooler nighttime hours to minimize disruptions while improving the condition and safety of our highways,” Foreman TJ Gibson said. “We really appreciate the public’s patience and engaged driving for the safety of our guys and gals out working on the roads.”

The upcoming schedule includes:
– August 4: Lane shift on State Highway 53 near Greensferry Road for striping removal.
– August 6: Closure of the westbound I-90 on-ramp from Beck Road and one lane closure near the Washington state line for resurfacing.
– August 7: Lane closures at Beck Road and Point Parkway for resurfacing.
– Week of August 11: Crack sealing along Seltice Way from Bay Street to Spokane Street.
– August 14: Full overnight closure at Spokane Street and Seltice Way intersection for resurfacing; detours will be available via Idaho’s 511 system and local signage.
– August 19: Both southbound lanes closed on US-95 near Appleway Avenue with detours provided.
– August 21: Both northbound lanes closed on US-95 near Appleway Avenue with detours provided.
– Week of August 25: Crack sealing throughout the US-95 corridor through Coeur d’Alene.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead, drive cautiously through work zones, and consult Idaho’s 511 website or app for current traffic updates and detour information.
