State Highway 21 has reopened to traffic between milepost 93 near Grandjean and milepost 106 at Banner Summit, according to the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD). The highway had been closed earlier this month following a rockfall that blocked the roadway.

Crews cleared debris from the site and conducted rock scaling operations to remove unstable material from the slope above the highway. These efforts were aimed at ensuring safety for motorists traveling through the area.

Drivers can now travel through this section of SH-21 without restrictions. However, ITD advises motorists to exercise caution in mountainous regions, stay alert for changing conditions, and be aware of potential falling rocks, particularly during wet weather or temperature fluctuations.

“ITD thanks the public for their patience while crews worked to safely reopen the highway,” stated the department.
