The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) will close State Highway 46 (Clear Lakes Road) at the railroad crossing in Buhl starting Monday through August 16. The closure is to allow for repairs to the asphalt and replacement of tracks near the SH-46/US 30 intersection.

According to ITD, both northbound and southbound traffic on SH-46 should use Elm Street as a detour. Westbound truck drivers are advised to take Broadway Avenue, while eastbound truck traffic should use N 1600 E to Sawtooth. Drivers are encouraged to watch for detour signs when traveling through the area.

“This project was not initially planned to happen this year, but additional funding and recognition of the public need allowed ITD to quickly get these repairs planned and underway,” ITD stated.

With an average daily crossing of more than 3,000 vehicles at this location, ITD advises motorists to allow extra time for travel during the detour period and drive safely.
