Idaho State women’s golf achieved a program milestone on April 20, posting a team score of 290 in the first round of the 2026 Big Sky Conference Championship at Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Arizona. The Bengals finished the day in fifth place at six-over par, trailing leader Northern Arizona by six shots after 18 holes.
The record-setting performance is significant for Idaho State, marking their best single-round team score in school history. Andrea Chin and Izzy Hassebrock both ranked among the top twelve individuals after the opening round.
Chin led the Bengals with a two-under-par 69, tying for the second-lowest individual round ever recorded at Idaho State. She ended her day tied for fourth individually and just two strokes behind Sacramento State’s Sophia Lee, who leads at four-under. “Chin birdied the opening hole and added another on hole 6 before making the turn at 37. The back nine was where she separated herself, birdieing holes 11, 15, 17 and 18 to close with a back-nine 32,” according to Thursday’s results.
Hassebrock started strong with an eagle on her first hole—a par five measuring over five hundred yards—and followed up with a birdie on hole two to reach three-under through two holes. Despite encountering some difficulties mid-round with bogeys on several holes, she finished even-par for a share of tenth place individually.
Other contributors included Kaylie Parola (73), Lauren Aasand (77), and Avery Bayer (84). Parola posted four birdies but also had four bogeys; Aasand closed her round with a birdie but struggled with seven bogeys; Bayer recorded ten pars despite challenges earlier in her round.
As reported Thursday night, “Idaho State’s 290 team total is the best single-round score in program history.” With more rounds ahead in the championship event, Idaho State will look to build upon its historic start.
