Idaho State University announced on May 17 the addition of three transfers—Jeremiah Dorsey, Eyal Harel, and Ty Virgil—to its men’s basketball team for the upcoming 2026-27 season. Head Coach Ryan Looney said these new players will help rebuild the Bengals’ roster following significant departures after last season.
The team is returning less than two percent of its scoring, rebounding, and assists from last year. Most of last year’s players have left due to graduation or transferring. The coaching staff is focusing on recruiting through the transfer portal as well as player development and international evaluation.
Jeremiah Dorsey joins Idaho State after a standout season at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He averaged 16.6 points, four assists, 3.4 rebounds, and three steals per game while earning First Team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference honors. “Jeremiah has three years of college basketball experience,” Looney said. “He has proven his ability to play and experience success at the college level. Jeremiah will impact the game defensively.” Dorsey was also recognized for his academic achievements off the court.
Eyal Harel arrives after playing one season at Pacific and gaining professional experience in Israel with teams such as Hapoel Afula and Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv. He also competed internationally with Maccabi Haifa B.C., averaging nearly ten points per game during FIBA U20 EuroBasket competition. “Eyal has great experience at different levels of basketball,” Looney said. “He has great size for the guard position. Eyal is a great addition to our roster.”
Ty Virgil comes from Pepperdine where he redshirted last season but previously played high school basketball at Hillcrest Prep and Phoenix College Prep in Arizona. During his senior year he averaged over twenty-two points per game while shooting nearly forty-five percent from beyond the arc. “Ty is a very talented player,” Looney said. “He is a tough shot maker and has great length for his position. Our coaching staff is looking forward to working with him.”
With these additions, Idaho State now has fifteen players on its roster—the maximum allowed for Division I programs—for next season’s campaign in the Big Sky Conference.
