The Governor’s Office of Energy and Mineral Resources (OEMR) organized the inaugural Idaho Energy and Mineral Summit in Boise, aiming to discuss the state’s increasing involvement in energy innovation and mineral development. The summit gathered policymakers, industry figures, and community members for a day-long event titled “Idaho Powering the Future.”
Governor Brad Little addressed attendees, emphasizing Idaho’s strategic position during a time of significant change in global energy. “At a moment of rapid transformation across the global energy landscape, Idaho is singularly well-positioned to lead with clarity and purpose. This summit was dedicated to bringing together the people, expertise, and ideas that will shape not only our state’s energy and critical minerals future, but also our broader role in strengthening America’s long-term energy security,” Governor Little said.
Other speakers included Utah Governor Spencer Cox via video message, U.S. Senator Jim Risch, Congressman Mike Simpson, and Lt. Governor Scott Bedke. They discussed Idaho’s contribution to national efforts on energy independence.
The event concluded with a session led by the Idaho Geological Survey titled “From Earth to Energy,” highlighting how local resources can support broader energy goals.
