Governor Brad Little and First Lady Teresa Little are inviting Idaho residents to attend the annual Idaho Capitol Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony on Wednesday, December 3. The event will take place at the State Capitol in Boise and is open to the public at no cost.
The festivities are set to begin at 5:30 p.m., featuring holiday music as guests arrive. Complimentary cookies, hot cocoa, and coffee will be available while supplies last. Santa Claus and an elf will distribute candy canes and bookmarks and will be present for photos with attendees.
At 6 p.m., the official ceremony will start with Governor Little, First Lady Teresa Little, Idaho’s constitutional officers, and musical performances by the Andrus Ambassadors Honor Choir from Cecil D. Andrus Elementary School and students from the Idaho Fine Arts Academy’s vocal major program. The tree lighting is scheduled for approximately 6:30 p.m.
After the tree is lit, guests are welcome inside the Capitol until 7:30 p.m. Visitors can also tour the Governor’s Ceremonial Office and shop at the Capitol Gift Shop, where this year’s state Christmas ornament and other locally made items will be available.
“This event is only possible thanks to our sponsors: Walmart, Cumulus Media, and Dawson Taylor Coffee Roasters.”
“Additionally, we would like to thank the Idaho Department of Administration, Idaho Department of Lands, Idaho Transportation Department, Idaho State Police, Inland Crane, Production Services International Inc., Ada County Highway District, and the Boise Police Department for their assistance in making the celebration possible.”
