A Philippines resident was booked into the Kootenai County Jail on May 10, following outstanding warrants related to rape charges, according to a May 13 statement from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.
The case stems from a 2017 investigation by deputies into multiple reports of sexual assault in an unincorporated area near Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Authorities said that victims had responded to social media advertisements for work opportunities at the suspect’s property. The victims reported they were drugged and sexually assaulted while at that location.
Detectives waited for forensic test results and continued gathering evidence during their investigation. Before charges could be filed, the suspect, identified as Michael T. Moore, age 62, left for the Philippines.
Once enough evidence was collected, investigators obtained arrest warrants for Moore on two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, two counts of rape, and battery with intent to commit a serious felony. The United States Marshals Service assisted with the case by working with Philippine authorities to locate and arrest Moore overseas. After his arrest in the Philippines, Moore was deported back to the United States where he was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals and transported back to Kootenai County.
Sheriff Robert B. Norris confirmed Moore’s booking into jail on May 10.
