Boise State women’s tennis had four athletes recognized with All-Mountain West honors on April 21, as Allison Isaacs and Masa Viriant were named to the singles team, while Tereza Polakova and Zdena Safarova earned spots on both the singles and doubles teams, according to a conference announcement.
This recognition is significant for Boise State, as its four all-conference singles selections are the most among this season’s 16 honorees. The team’s total of four individual awards marks its highest since 2011. It also represents the first time since joining the Mountain West that multiple Broncos have received both singles and doubles honors in consecutive seasons.
Polakova and Safarova began their partnership in the fourth match of spring, achieving a 12-4 record at No. 1 doubles. They are two wins away from entering Boise State’s record book for single-season victories at that position. In singles play, Safarova has compiled a 13-4 record at No. 1 and enters the conference tournament having won 11 of her last 12 matches. This is her second straight season earning both singles and doubles honors—an accomplishment previously achieved by only one other Bronco since joining the Mountain West.
Polakova joined Boise State as a transfer from Kansas State and quickly made an impact with an 11-5 record in singles competition this season, mostly playing at No. 2 but also securing one win at No. 1. She becomes just the eighth Bronco to earn both singles and doubles recognition in one season since Boise State entered the conference in 2011-12.
Isaacs stands out with an impressive debut season for Boise State: she holds an overall record of 18-2 in singles matches, including a program-best single-season mark of seventeen wins at No.4 position; her total victories rank tenth all-time for dual matches within a single year for the team. Isaacs enters postseason play riding a sixteen-match winning streak dating back to January.
Viriant receives her first career honor after moving up from sixth position last year to third this season; she currently holds a thirteen-three record at that spot.
