The eastbound off-ramp of Interstate 84 at Exit 208 will be closed from 6 p.m. on Monday until 8 a.m. Tuesday to allow contractors to install new horizontal support beams, known as girders, over a nearby canal.
During the closure, westbound drivers who need to access Burley will be rerouted via Exit 211 and directed back onto I-84 to reach Exit 208. Detour signs will be posted throughout the project area to guide motorists. The Idaho Transportation Department advises that detour dates, routes, and times may change due to weather or other unforeseen factors. Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the construction zone and watch for crews.
This closure is part of ongoing construction that began in 2024 to update the Heyburn and Burley Interchanges in response to increasing traffic demands. The project is expected to finish in 2026.
According to the Idaho Transportation Department, “The Leading Idaho initiative allows ITD to take a deliberate approach to advance large projects that will enhance safety, improve mobility, further strengthen Idaho’s economy, and positively impact the Magic Valley and communities across the state for years to come.”
The project is funded through Governor Little’s Leading Idaho transportation funding initiative.
Motorists can find up-to-date information about traffic impacts at https://511.idaho.gov/. More details about the interchange project are available on its dedicated website.
