Gonzaga Prep player Dylynn Groves has signed with the Idaho men’s basketball team, becoming the fifth high school addition to head coach Alex Pribble’s staff this offseason, according to a May 15 announcement.
The signing of Groves is significant as it adds depth and talent to the Vandals’ roster ahead of the upcoming season. His experience and resilience are seen as valuable assets for the team’s future success.
“Dylynn is a unique and special pickup for us,” Pribble said Friday. “He is a high level player and incredibly tough young man who has been battling injuries much of his high school career. When we dug into the type of person he is – his competitiveness, his personal drive, his desire to be great, and combined that with the talent and production that he showed when he was healthy – we thought he was a no-brainer to bring into the program. We will give him the resources to rehab and to develop, and we believe he will be a big part of this program’s success in the future.”
Groves played an important role during his senior year at Gonzaga Prep despite dealing with injury. He contributed significantly to G-Prep’s second consecutive state title game appearance. The 6-foot-5 forward anchored a defense that allowed only 47.3 points per game, especially after returning from injury in December. In just his second game back, Groves scored 32 points in nine minutes—a performance that earned him First Team All-League honors in the Greater Spokane League.
The Groves family has prior ties to Big Sky basketball; Dylynn’s brothers Jacob and Tanner previously played for Eastern Washington University’s conference-winning squad in 2020. Tanner later graduated after playing at Oklahoma before joining Nagasaki Velca in Japan, while Jacob competed in the FIBA Europe Cup in 2025.
Groves joins former teammate Ryan Carney as well as Jalen Williams, TJ Wal, Nolan Newman-Gomez, Kase Wynott, Hudson Ward, Diego Trejo-Delgado, Brady Kennison, and Ryan Lafferty on Idaho’s expanded roster for next season.
