Washington, D.C.–Nine interns have joined U.S. Senator Mike Crapo’s (R-Idaho) Washington, D.C., Boise and Lewiston offices for the summer 2023 term.
“Interns in my Washington, D.C., and state offices gain real-world skills in policymaking, public service and communications,” Crapo said. “It is exciting to see so many young people take an interest in public service and foster their skills as they prepare to head into the American workforce.”
Five interns will serve in the Washington, D.C., office:
- Landen Blades graduated from Montana State University earning a bachelor’s degree in sociology. He previously interned with the United States Marshals Service and plans to pursue a law degree.
- Taylor Jepson attends Boise State University. She is majoring in public health, and is expected to graduate next spring.
- Idelia Robinson-Confer is pursuing a Master’s in Public Administration focusing on policy research & analysis from the University of Pittsburgh. She enjoys learning more about quantitative research and different policy areas after spending the last few years involved in advocacy and policy efforts regarding child welfare.
- Jacob Sauer is a junior at Boise State University. He is majoring in finance with a minor in economics.
- Austin Smith is a Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, native and a senior at the University of Idaho. He is studying mathematics with a minor in political science.
Three interns will serve in the Boise office:
- Sarah Clevenger is a sophomore at the University of Alabama. She is studying public relations with a minor in English and has plans to attend law school
- Gabe Rodriguez is a senior at Boise State University studying political science with an emphasis in public law and political philosophy. He is a member of the McNair Scholars program, student government and Pre-Law Society.
- Sarah Young, a Boise, Idaho, native, majors in English at Utah State University. She is entering her senior year and has plans to attend law school after graduation.
One intern will serve in the Lewiston office:
- Sydney Sterling majors in political science and criminology at the University of Idaho. After graduation, she plans to pursue law school or a criminology graduate program.
Crapo hosts interns in his Washington, D.C., office as well as in the various regional offices throughout Idaho.
