Boise State University announced on April 14 the release of a new digital accessibility roadmap designed to help faculty, staff, and departments meet updated ADA Title II digital accessibility requirements.

The new guidelines are intended to ensure that all members of the university community have equal access to digital content, including websites, course materials, documents, videos, and social media. The initiative highlights the importance of making digital spaces inclusive for everyone involved with the university.

According to the Office of Compliance and Ethics, the roadmap outlines a five-step approach: learning how accessibility applies in various roles; adopting accessible practices for all newly created content; archiving outdated or unused materials; updating existing content with a focus on public-facing or frequently used items; and maintaining ongoing accessibility through regular audits. “Accessibility is a shared responsibility across campus, and every employee who creates or shares digital content plays a role in building an environment where all students, employees and community members can fully participate in the university’s programs, activities and services,” said officials from Boise State University.

A compliance checklist is available on the university’s accessibility website for those seeking more detailed guidance. The university also offers resources such as departmental training sessions and individualized consultations through Digital Accessibility Compliance Officer Christy Dobson. For questions about course-specific content or web-related issues, staff are encouraged to contact either the Office of Community Engagement and Belonging or University Web Strategy respectively.

The release of this roadmap reflects an ongoing effort by Boise State University to foster inclusivity across its campus by ensuring that digital environments remain accessible now and into the future.
