Leah Engle, a senior at Boise State University, was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in Germany, according to an April 16 announcement. Engle is graduating this May with a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies with an emphasis on International Governance and Development, along with a minor in Refugee Studies and certificates in Intermediate German and Business.
The Fulbright program is known for its competitiveness and supports international education and cultural exchange through U.S. government funding. As part of the award, Engle will study International Social Work with Refugees and Migrants at the Technical University of Applied Sciences in Wurzburg, Germany.
Engle said she feels honored by the recognition: “I am beyond blessed to be a recipient of the Fulbright Award and am eager to be a representative of the United States and Boise State University as I embark on my next chapter in Germany! This opportunity is another blessing in my life that will continue to teach me how to serve and love those around the world.”
The Fulbright award enables students like Engle to engage directly with global communities while representing their home institutions abroad. Such opportunities can foster mutual understanding between nations.
Looking ahead, Engle’s studies are expected to further her commitment to serving refugees and migrants internationally.
