Boise State University announced on April 29 that its women’s softball team will conclude the 2026 regular season with a three-game home series against San Jose State from April 30 to May 2. This marks the Broncos’ last appearance as a member of the Mountain West Conference before moving to the Pac-12 for the 2027 season.
The upcoming games will be played at Boise, where the Broncos have an all-time record of 11-7 against San Jose State and have won five out of six home meetings under head coach Justin Shults. Last year, San Jose State swept Boise State in California, but this season’s matchup provides an opportunity for Boise State to close out its Mountain West tenure on a strong note.
Live coverage of all three games will be available via BroncoSports.com, with Garrett Jones providing play-by-play commentary and Craig Lawson serving as analyst. The series finale on Saturday will also serve as Senior Day, honoring redshirt senior Marissa Gonzalez and true senior Hollie Farmer. Gonzalez transferred from South Carolina for her final year and has started in most games this season, while Farmer is noted as the first student-athlete recruited by Shults to spend four years with the program and is currently batting .339 in conference play.
Under Shults’ leadership since 2022, Boise State has achieved notable milestones including winning regular season titles in both 2018 and 2023, producing eight major award winners within the conference, and setting or tying thirty Mountain West records since joining in 2012. The team recently took two out of three games at San Diego State and has accumulated more wins than any other Mountain West school over the past decade.
The Broncos’ challenging schedule this year included matchups against several top-ranked teams such as Texas (defending national champion), Arkansas (super regional participant), Arizona (regional finalist), Stanford (regional finalist), Mississippi (Women’s College World Series participant), among others. Additionally, freshman Loula-Rae McNamara received both Pitcher of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors during March.
As Boise State prepares for its transition to a new conference next season, players like Skylar Stroh are closing in on individual records while recent achievements underscore a period of success for Bronco softball.
