Boise State lost to UNLV 9-6 on April 19 after a back-and-forth game that saw the Broncos come from behind three times before the Rebels secured the win with a three-run seventh inning.
The outcome matters for both teams as it affects their standings in the Mountain West Conference, with UNLV improving to a conference record of 14-5 and Boise State falling to 6-13.
During the game, Marissa Gonzalez hit a home run in the second inning to tie the score at one. Jorja Crider contributed with a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the fifth inning, giving Boise State a brief lead. In the sixth inning, Crider walked to load the bases and Kaylee Vieira followed with a three-run double that tied the game at six runs each. However, UNLV responded by scoring three runs in their half of the seventh.
Loula-Rae McNamara made her 38th appearance as pitcher this season, tying Boise State’s freshman record for appearances in one year. Vieira set her personal best with three runs batted in during this matchup. Kate Penberthy continued her strong performance by doubling for her seventh consecutive game with an extra-base hit.
Looking ahead, Boise State will travel to play San Diego State in a three-game series scheduled for April 24 through April 26.
