Boise State announced on May 8 that it has signed guard Ty Rodgers to its men’s basketball team.
Rodgers, who stands at 6 feet 6 inches and weighs 210 pounds, joins the Broncos after playing four collegiate seasons from 2022 to 2026 at Illinois. He appeared in a total of 71 games, starting in 38 of them between the years of 2022 and 2024 before missing the last two seasons.
During his sophomore year, Rodgers started all games he played and contributed to Illinois achieving a record of 29 wins and nine losses, as well as an appearance in the NCAA Elite Eight. That season, he averaged 6.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and two assists per game while shooting over fifty-two percent from the field.
After graduating high school, Rodgers played for USA Basketball alongside several current NBA players such as Stephon Castle (San Antonio), Jared McCain (Oklahoma City), and Cam Whitmore (Washington). The team was coached by Boise State head coach Leon Rice, who served as an assistant under Tad Boyle during that period. Rodgers averaged over five points and five rebounds per game while helping Team USA secure a gold medal.
A native of Saginaw, Michigan, Rodgers attended Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Illinois where he averaged more than seventeen points and fifteen rebounds per game as a senior under coach Tai Streets. Before that, he led Grand Blanc High School to its first state championship in Michigan Division I basketball in 2021 and was named Player of the Year by the Associated Press.
Rodgers was recognized as a four-star recruit out of high school with rankings including No.52 by ESPN among his class.
