Boise State beach volleyball was announced as the No. 5 seed for its first Big 12 Beach Volleyball Championship, according to an April 20 statement from the conference.
The seeding is significant as it marks Boise State’s debut in the Big 12 tournament, setting up matchups that will test the team’s performance against top-ranked programs.
The championship will begin on Thursday, April 23 with pool play. As the No. 5 seed, Boise State (19-13 overall and 2-1 in conference play) is scheduled to face top-seeded Florida State at 10 a.m. Mountain Time before competing against No. 4 South Carolina at 12:30 p.m. Mountain Time. Based on results from pool play, all six teams will be placed into a single-elimination bracket that continues on Friday, April 24, with the championship dual set for 4:30 p.m.
The six schools’ seeding was determined by votes from each of their head coaches. During the season, Boise State went undefeated in two out of three conference duals by defeating Arizona and South Carolina at the Big 12 Preview held in March. The team holds a record of two wins and four losses against other Big 12 opponents this year—including splitting matches with South Carolina and losing both encounters with Florida State.
Recently, Boise State has shown strong form by winning ten out of its last twelve duals and securing victories over ranked teams such as No.19 Washington and No.15 Florida Atlantic during last weekend’s Alki Invitational event. In total this season, Boise State has beaten four ranked opponents—the highest number achieved in a single year for the program.
