Boise State men’s tennis will face top-seeded Utah State in the final round of the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship on April 24 at 6 p.m. Mountain Time in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The winner of this match will secure the conference championship title for the season. Boise State enters as the No. 3 seed and is currently ranked No. 62 nationally, which is the second-highest ranking among Mountain West teams.
Utah State finished conference play with a perfect record, winning all seven matches and earning the regular season title. The Aggies advanced to the championship after defeating Nevada and UNLV in earlier rounds. In their most recent meeting, Utah State beat Boise State 4-2 on April 11 in Logan, Utah. Historically, Boise State leads their all-time series against Utah State with a record of 41-16 and holds a slight edge in conference tournament matchups at four wins to three.
This season has seen notable achievements for Boise State, including recording twelve sweeps—their highest total since 2007—and back-to-back sweeps during both quarterfinal and semifinal rounds for the first time since 2012. Individual performances have also stood out: Stewart Aronson leads with five match-clinching wins while Carson Baker follows with four; Adam Duda, Julius Seifert, and Filip Soderqvist each have two clinchers; Avery Tallakson and Lukas Velik have one apiece.
Idriss Haddouch is one win away from reaching a milestone of one hundred combined singles and doubles victories at Boise State—the most among current players. Meanwhile, Soderqvist holds a five-match singles winning streak heading into the final.
The Broncos’ roster features seven returning players along with transfers Aronson (from Clemson) and Tallakson (from New Mexico), plus freshman Soderqvist who has been named Mountain West Freshman of the Week three times this year—the most such honors by a freshman since 2022.
In program history, Boise State has won five regular season conference titles since joining conferences that play round-robin formats beginning in 2009. The team has also claimed six Mountain West tournament championships since joining that league in 2012 as well as eighteen overall across four different conferences over its history.
Looking ahead to Thursday’s matchup against Utah State, both teams aim not only for another title but also an automatic bid into postseason competition.
