Boise State men’s tennis swept New Mexico in the quarterfinal of the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship, according to an April 22 announcement. The victory allows Boise State (21-8, 4-3 Mountain West) to advance to its fourth consecutive semifinal, while New Mexico ends its season at 8-16 (2-5 Mountain West).
The win is significant as it marks Boise State’s eighth semifinal appearance since joining the conference and ties their highest number of season sweeps since 2012. The Broncos also secured their first sweep in the championship tournament since 2024 and recorded their sixth all-time conference tournament win over the Lobos.
In doubles play, Carson Baker and Avery Tallakson earned a 6-4 win over Alberto Perez and Jakub Prachar on court one. Idriss Haddouch and Taiyo Kurata followed with another 6-4 result on court three against Connor Dils and Tyler Waddock, securing the doubles point for Boise State. In singles competition, Lukas Velik posted a decisive straight-set victory on court five. Kurata added another singles win with a score of 7-6 (5), 6-0. Stewart Aronson clinched the overall match for Boise State by defeating Philip Bosin in straight sets.
Several individual achievements were noted: Baker and Tallakson reached their twenty-second win as a pair this season, placing them eighteenth in career program history for wins by a duo and tenth for single-season wins; Aronson clinched his fifth match this year; Haddouch achieved his ninety-ninth combined career win between singles and doubles.
Looking ahead, third-seeded Boise State will face second-seeded San Diego State in the semifinals of the championship on April 23 at 6 p.m. Mountain Time.
