Boise State University’s men’s tennis team defeated the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) 4-0 at Appleton Tennis Center on April 18. The win marks Boise State’s fourth consecutive season with at least 20 victories and ends their regular season with a conference win over UNLV.
The match saw strong performances in both doubles and singles play. In doubles, Idriss Haddouch and Taiyo Kurata secured a quick victory on court three, while Carson Baker and Avery Tallakson clinched the doubles point with a tiebreak win on court one. In singles competition, Stewart Aronson won his match in straight sets, followed by Kurata also winning in two sets. Baker then sealed the overall team victory with another straight-set win.
Boise State has now achieved ten sweeps this season—their highest total since 2012—and earned their third ranked win of the year, tying for most such wins in the Mountain West Conference. The Broncos also ended UNLV’s three-match winning streak and extended their all-time series lead over UNLV to 16-7 overall and 9-1 in matches played in Boise.
The doubles pair of Baker and Tallakson reached their twenty-first victory as partners this season, moving them into twentieth place for career program wins as a duo and twelfth for single-season victories within the program’s history.
Looking ahead, Boise State will travel to Las Vegas for the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Men’s Tennis Championship starting April 22. The final tournament bracket is set to be released on April 19.
