The Boise State University Graduate College hosted its annual Graduate Student Showcase on April 8, drawing nearly 200 graduate students to present their research and creative work both in person and online. The event, part of Research and Creative Activity Month at the university, marked the highest level of participation since its inception.

The showcase’s growth highlights increasing engagement in graduate education and scholarly activity at Boise State. Presentations were evaluated by three faculty judges from outside each student’s program or college, encouraging interdisciplinary feedback and academic exchange.

Students represented 43 master’s and doctoral programs across six academic colleges, sharing projects that included scientific research, applied studies, policy analysis, and creative practice. Master of Fine Arts students also delivered readings to standing-room-only audiences, offering a platform for creative expression.

Support for the event came from 120 graduate faculty judges who volunteered their time to evaluate presentations and support their advisees. More than 600 attendees—including undergraduate students, faculty members, university leaders, and community participants—were present at the showcase.

Forty-two students will be recognized for exceptional academic achievement at the upcoming Graduate College Awards Ceremony on April 23 based on their showcase presentations.

Graduate College Dean Scott Lowe said: “The Graduate Student Showcase is more than just an event; it is a window into the incredible scholarship that is flourishing across the Boise State campus. As we accelerate our pursuit of a Carnegie R1 designation, the advancement of student research reflects both the breadth and the real-world impact of our academic community. Through the Showcase, as we open the doors to the scholarship that our graduate students are doing in their classrooms, studios, and labs, we are not just displaying work — we are celebrating the inspired minds that make Boise State thrive.”
