Boise State beach volleyball completed the regular season with a perfect 4-0 record at the Alki Invitational, including two wins over nationally ranked teams, according to an April 18 announcement.

The Broncos’ strong performance is significant as it marks the first time in program history that they have achieved four ranked victories in a single season. Entering this year, Boise State had only four total ranked wins since the program began.

During the invitational in Seattle, Boise State defeated No. 15 Florida Atlantic and No. 19 Washington on Saturday after securing victories against Oregon and Portland on Friday. Notably, their win over Washington was their first since March 10, 2019, and their victory against Florida Atlantic was a program first.

Several athletes reached career milestones during the weekend. Ava Anderson tied for most career wins in program history with her 84th victory, while Elli Wolthuis became just the third Bronco to surpass 80 career wins. Addison Wolden moved into fourth place all-time for career victories and became the fastest Bronco to reach 75 wins. Lily Patock also joined an elite group by surpassing 70 career wins.

Head coach Alex Venardos said, “We had a big talk Thursday night about how there is still a ton of runway left in the season. When we lost last weekend and lost our ranking, it took a lot of wind out of our sails. We kept our heads down and focused on what we do right. Everyone bought into that.” Venardos added: “Playing in the Big 12 has set the bar really high for our team. We have a new goal that we strive towards each day. We want to leave our mark for this first year in the conference and we can’t wait to leave it all out there next week.”

With these results concluding their regular season schedule, Boise State will travel to Tucson for the Big 12 Championship on April 23-24.
