Beach volleyball players Ava Anderson and Addison Wolden were named the Big 12 Pair of the Week following a perfect performance at the Boise State Beach Bash, according to an April 14 announcement from the league.
This recognition is significant as it marks the second time this season that Boise State has received this honor. Earlier in March, Avery Allen and Keira Demirjian also earned the distinction. Boise State is among three programs in the conference to have multiple pairs receive weekly honors, and one of only two schools with two separate pairs recognized this season.
Anderson and Wolden competed from the No. 2 position throughout last weekend’s tournament. They started by defeating South Florida’s Isabella Almeida and Zoey Mitchell in straight sets, then rallied from a set down to overcome Florida International’s Nicole Robinson and Madalyn Wade. The pair repeated their comeback against Grand Canyon University’s Sarah Edler and Katie Keefe before finishing with a win over Washington’s Youna Coens and Jordyn Decker, providing Boise State’s only point in that match.
The award further distinguishes Anderson and Wolden, who earlier broke Boise State’s program record for most career wins by a pair with 39 victories. Their current season record stands at 19-9, which is both tops on this year’s roster and ranks ninth all-time for single-season wins by a Bronco duo.
Boise State will wrap up its regular season at the Alki Invitational on April 17-18 in Seattle before heading to Tucson for the Big 12 Conference Championship on April 23-24.
