Idaho Vandals men’s tennis player Amadike was named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, according to an April 15 announcement. This achievement ties both the Idaho school record and the conference record for most Player of the Week titles in a single season.

The recognition places Amadike alongside Idaho alumnus Francisco Bascon, who earned four such honors in 2021, and Sacramento State’s Kiryl Harbatsiuk, who set his mark in 2010. Amadike’s performance over a recent weekend in Utah contributed to this milestone, as he posted a perfect 3-0 record. He secured a win at number one doubles against Utah and followed with singles victories against Ken Dinh from Utah and another opponent from Weber State.

These wins helped lead Idaho to an important victory over Weber State, which ensured their spot in the upcoming Big Sky Conference tournament. With only one match left in both his regular season and collegiate career, Amadike reflected on his accomplishment: “It feels great to have a place in the Idaho history books, this school has done so much for me, and it feels amazing to be able to give a fraction of that back. The only way we can give more back is to bring another ring to Idaho men’s tennis,” Amadike said.

Currently holding an overall record of 15-7 and a conference record of 5-1 this season, Amadike has competed primarily at number one singles while alternating between first and second positions in doubles matches.

Idaho will next travel to Flagstaff for their final regular-season match against Northern Arizona on Sunday, April 19 at 11 a.m.
