The Ada County Sheriff’s Office announced on April 29 that deputies responded to a fatal crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 11000 block of W. State St. in Star.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred around 4:29 p.m. when a 90-year-old man driving a red 2017 Ram 1500 attempted to park in a private parking lot. His passenger, an 87-year-old woman, exited the vehicle and stood in front of it to help guide him into the space. The driver unintentionally drove forward, striking her.

Deputies said lifesaving aid was rendered at the scene by both law enforcement and paramedics. The woman was transported to a local hospital but later died from her injuries. Authorities indicated there is no sign of foul play and described the event as “a tragic accident” based on their initial investigation.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office may release the identity of the deceased after notifying next of kin. The incident remains under investigation by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Team.
